Welcome to NetVocab, the place people land when a word, acronym, emoji or number shows up in a chat and nobody wants to be the one who asks what it means.
We started this site for one reason: online language moves faster than any dictionary. A term can go from a single TikTok comment to every group chat on the planet in a week, and by the time it is written up somewhere official, half the meaning has shifted. We wanted a reference that keeps up, explains things in plain English and never makes you feel out of the loop.
What we publish
- Meaning guides. What a slang word, abbreviation, emoji or number actually means, where it came from, how people use it and how to reply.
- Grammar explainers. Clear walkthroughs of tenses, sentence structure and the rules that trip people up, with examples and practice exercises.
- Tech and AI explainers. The jargon of the AI boom, from LLMs and tokens to vibe coding and AI slop, explained with the same care as the slang.
- Blog posts. Longer reads about texting culture, technology, language trends and how words travel across the internet.
How we work
Every guide is researched by looking at how a term is really being used, not just how it is defined. We read the comment sections, the subreddits, the Discord servers and the reply threads. When a word has more than one meaning, we say so and explain how context decides. When usage changes, we update the article.
We write for real people, not for search engines. Our editorial policy sets out exactly how we research, check and correct what we publish. No filler, no jargon, no ten paragraphs before the answer. If you just need the definition, it is at the top. If you want the full story, keep scrolling.
A note on accuracy
Slang is informal by nature and meanings can vary by region, platform and friend group. We do our best to reflect the most common usage and we correct mistakes quickly. If you think we got something wrong, or you have a term you want us to cover, get in touch. We read every message.
